Are you struggling to drive traffic to your website? If so, you are not alone. In addition to creating unique and original content, due to the fact that there is so much competition these days, webmasters also have to drive traffic to their websites.
One thing that can and does frustrate webmasters to a great degree is the seemingly large amount of time that they have to wait to begin seeing organic traffic being sent to their blog or website. Now, while some sites do indeed go viral, odds are yours will not and for this reason, you will have to drive traffic to it.
That being said, even when you drive traffic to your site, you will still have to wait for your content to be indexed before receiving organic traffic.
Recently, I have launched several article directories and link directories as a measuring stick to begin seeing exactly how long before Google starts sending traffic to our sites. As a disclaimer, I will point out that all websites, all niches, all geo-targeted searches are different, so results will vary widely from site to site. That being said, here is what we have found…
Without heavy back-linking, you are looking at a good 30-60 days to get your content completely indexed. Building a few backlinks to your site and/or content can and does reduce this quickly to less than 30 days. Heavy back-linking, provided you do not get penalized, which is possible if your site is new (i.e. less than a year old) can get new content indexed in less than 24 hours.
Only after content is indexed will it begin appearing in search results.
We have found that key to getting indexed is the use of sitemaps. Sitemaps tell Google exactly where all of your content is and, if you submit your sitemap to your Google Webmasters account, you can track your results in real time. This information is invaluable and you will be quickly alerted to any and all problems that exist in terms of indexing your content.
Once you content is indexed, then this process needs to continually be fed with up-to-date and informative content.
Analytics are invariably playing a larger and larger role in building trust rank, a new SEO factor that is gaining recognition in the SEO world.
A healthy blog or website should be updated regularly so as to give Google and other search engines a reason to send traffic your way.
